The College's Two year foundation course provides intensive dance training for students wishing to pursue careers as professional dancers.

Students are accepted by audition only and undergo comprehensive training in Classical Ballet, Pilates, Contemporary dance, Jazz Dance, Tap and Vocal studies. Lectures in Dance History, Anatomy and Nutrition are also integral part of the curriculum.

The studio

Additional workshops with visiting international guest teachers, plus a resident faculty of fully qualified professional staff, ensure that all the students acquire a strong technical dance foundation, with a wide cultural grounding that develops them as individual dance artists.

Work experience is an integral part of the Professional Dance Course. Graduates are currently working in the professional dance area world wide whilst others have been awarded highly competitive European Scholarships to undertake further training at prestigious institutes in New York, London, Russia and The Netherlands.

VOCAL STUDIES

The Royal Irish Academy of Music is a home of musical excellence and dynamism, a place of teaching and learning which constantly achieves its objective of transmitting and maintaining the highest standards of performance and appreciation in all musical disciplines. Founded in 1848, Ireland’s oldest musical institution has recently celebrated its 150 anniversary. Its Director is the acclaimed Irish pianist, John O’Connor.

Since its foundation, The Royal Irish Academy of Music has been a forum for the highest ideals of music education. As a national 32 county institution, the Academy embodies and reflects the traditions and heritage of Irish musicianship. The teaching staff includes the international and national prize-winners, members of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the RTE Concert Orchestra and many individuals whose names have become synonymous with music education in Ireland. With the resources of such talents at its disposal, it is no wonder that the Academy’s students have been accepted for further study at the most prestigious music institutions around the world. Today, with recently established Higher Education Courses, the Academy is in turn able to offer the finest Irish musical training to students from all corners of the world.



ENTRANCE CONDITIONS

Entry into the Diploma Course is by audition and interview, carried out by members of the faculty.

All candidates should have some previous dance training and the commitment necessary to become a professional dancer.

Auditions are held throughout the year and candidates participate in a short

  • Ballet class
  • Contemporary class
  • Jazz class
A prepared solo in the style of their choice is also required.

For those who successfully pass the audition, places are provisionally offered after an interview pending the results of a medical examination.

Students applying to the course must use the official application forms. A choice of audition dates will be given. The audition fee of 30 euros in non-refundable. A deposit will be payable by successful candidates in order to secure their places on the course, the balance of the first term’s fees being payable on or before the first day of term. There are three twelve-week terms per year.

FEES

Full-time student per Term - 1200 Euros

Fees must be paid in full at the beginning of each term and are non-refundable. In the event of a student wishing to discontinue studies, one full term’s notice must be given to the College Board of Management. Any queries about fees and methods of payment should be addressed to the College Board of Management.
